Measuring approximately 7&#34; tall by 5&#34; wide, the work depicts a stylized Indigenous face with carved feather detail and headband. The back is inscribed: “Delmar Joseph, Squamish, BC, Canada, Coast Salish Indian.” Delmar Joseph began carving in 1967 at the age of 11 under the guidance of his father, Larry Joseph. The first vase is a tall, black ceramic piece with a distinctive angular skyscraper-like form, smooth glossy finish with subtle matte vertical stripes, measuring approximately 11" tall, 3.5" wide, and 3" deep. It retains its original Daniel Hechter label at the base. The second vase is a shorter, rounded smoke-colored glass piece with a smooth surface, Scandinavian design influence, measuring 4" tall by 3" across. Its glass is translucent gray with clean lines and modern aesthetic.
