Vintage Lega tribal mask of the muminia type, carved from light wood and coated in thick, dark natural pigment. Originating from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Lega masks are traditionally used in Bwami society initiations. This mask exhibits classic features with a heart-shaped brow line, tubular eyes, and geometric beard. Measures approximately 16&#34; tall x 10&#34; wide. There is visible damage to the lower &#34;beard&#34; portion (see photos), but it displays well and the damage is not prominent when mounted.
