Spectacular and exciting full color framed lithograph capturing the exhilarating (and frightening) image of the long-term toils whalers endured. In visibly fine condition - Not examined out of frame. Reference: Painted by W.J. Huggins, Marine painter to his Majesty: The Head of a large Whale in the Agonies of death. London, published January 1, 1825 by W. J. Huggins, Marine Painter, No. 105 Leadenhall Street. A Boat destroy'd by a Wounded Whale. Engraved by T. Sutherland (see pictures lower corners). As noted on the lithograph: "South Sea Whale Fishery. A representation of the ships Amelia Wilson & Castor off the Island of Bouro, with their Boats and Crew, in the various process of Fishing, shewing the manner the Spermacetti Whales are caught, also the mode of cutting them into the Ship and Boiling the Oil upon Deck".
