A Mill Near Brighton Mezzotint c1838 Framed

Original 19th-century mezzotint engraving titled A Mill Near Brighton, engraved by David Lucas (1802–1881) after a painting by John Constable, R.A. (1776–1837). Published circa 1838 as part of Constable’s celebrated English Landscape Scenery series, which sought to reproduce the tonal richness and natural atmosphere of his paintings. The composition depicts a windmill set against a dramatic sky with a lone figure in the foreground.
Unexamined out of frame; some mat staining , but the print itself presents well. Examples of this mezzotint are held in major institutional collections including The Tate, Victoria and Albert Museum, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Framed size approximately 15&#34; x 12&#34;.
